After several months of speculation, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is just five days away from being revealed to the world and putting an end to all leaks of information, making known in detail all its features.
Still, judging by the last few months, these days leading up to the official presentation, which will take place at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, should be fruitful regarding more details and confirmations regarding the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, which could be Samsung’s most important smartphone in 2021.
This is the case of the leak this Friday, where we get to know, in detail, the new folding smartphone of the South Korean manufacturer.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be a real ‘powerhouse’
Starting with the screens, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 will have two Dynamic AMOLED 2X screens, both with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The company’s star will, of course, be the internal folding screen, with a diagonal of 7.6 inches and a resolution of 1.768 x 2,208px (with a pixel density of 370ppi) and with support for the S Pen.
We can’t leave out, however, the external 6.2-inch screen and 832 x 2,260px resolution, in a ridiculous 24.4:9 format. Both screens will be protected by Gorilla Glass Victus and will have an important difference between them.
Although both screens extend to the edges of the device, the outer screen will retain a punch-hole style 10MP front camera cutout . In the case of the interior screen, there won’t be any kind of cutout for the front camera, as this screen will hide the first camera behind the Samsung screen, namely a 4MP sensor, with f/1.8 aperture and 2.0 µm pixels.
Continuing to address the device’s cameras, we now move to the rear module. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3‘s main camera system will be very similar to its predecessor, the Z Fold 2, as it will include the same trio of 12MP sensors. The main camera will have optical image stabilization, as well as the telephoto camera with f/2.2 aperture and 2x optical zoom. The wide angle will have a capture angle of 123º.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 will perform at the level of the best smartphones of the year and this is due to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 processor that will equip it. There are rumors about the possible inclusion of a new Exynos processor with an AMD GPU, but this may be a mere possibility. Accompanying the processor will be 12GB of RAM and 256 or 512GB of storage options.

As for autonomy, we will find a decrease of 100 mAh compared to the Z Fold 2 battery, as the new folding will be equipped with a unit with a total capacity of 4,400 mAh. Cable charging power remains at 25W as well as wireless charging. 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 are practically certain, as well as a USB-C input, stereo speakers and a fingerprint reader under the screen.
The battery reduction will essentially be related to the new sleek and slim design that Samsung has managed to develop. When opened, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 will have a thickness of only 6.4mm (0.5mm reduction) and when closed it will be 14.4mm (2.4mm reduction compared to the Z Fold 2). Also in weight there is a reduction, as the new folding will weigh “only” 271 grams.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 will also be a tough smartphone. This model is designed for an average of 200,000 opening and closing cycles, which is equivalent to opening and closing the device 100 times a day for 5 years. This smartphone will also be water resistant (the first in the segment), with IPX8 certification. Finally, it is noted that an entry for the S Pen will not be included.
The price of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 will continue to be stratospheric. In Europe, this folding will be available for a price starting at €1,900 and can be configured in Green, Black and Silver. The presentation takes place on August 11th and, according to the sources, the first units should reach users this month.
