Google made known to the world the first details of the new Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, leaving good perspectives for the official presentation, which will take place in the last quarter of the year.
This week, after unveiling the Pixel 5a 5G to the world, he came to confirm a new detail regarding the charger of the new Pixel 6, which will not be included in the smartphone box.
Pixel 6 will be next in the footsteps of the iPhone 12
Google has confirmed that the new Pixel 6 and 6 Pro will not ship with a charger included in the box. According to the American company, the reason behind this decision is linked to the fact that most users already have a charger with USB-C cable from other devices, eliminating the need to receive a new one with the new smartphones.
This trend of not including a charger in the box was started by Apple with the iPhone 12 in 2020, which founded its decision on reducing the environmental impact. Apple has applied its policy to its entire smartphone lineup, and Samsung has also followed that path with its top-of-the-range Galaxy S21 smartphones.
Interestingly, this trend has not been adopted by most Chinese manufacturers. One of the reasons for this lack of adherence is the very high charging speeds of new smartphones from companies such as Xiaomi, OPPO or OnePlus, and, in order to offer this advantage, they need to include a charger with this power in the box.
In the case of Google, it appears that the charging speed is not a priority for the Pixel smartphones, so this option turns out to be natural by removing the 18W chargers from the box, which allows savings of millions of euros to the giant technological.
Google has already revealed the first details of both Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, namely the design of the devices and the processor that will equip them: the Google Tensor.
