Mark Gurman’s weekly newsletters published on Bloomberg are revealing this to you as an inexhaustible source of most interesting leaks. If this morning we were talking about the arrival of the always-on screens in the iPhone 13 now we are talking about the possible launch dates of the new 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro.
September or November, this is the question
The vast majority of Mac computers have already made the leap to M1 processors. Last October we saw the arrival of the MacBook Air, the 13-inch MacBook Pro, and the Mac mini. And recently we have seen the launch of the iMac with M1. With this, few computers are still waiting to take the step: the 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros, the larger-screen iMac and the Mac Pro.
Of all these Gurman has news about the first two. According to the latest newsletter published by the Bloomberg reporter, the launch of the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros will take place “between September and November at the latest. “
Apparently Apple originally planned to launch these new Macs sooner, but various complications surrounding the production of the mini-LED displays have pushed the dates back. Dates that, from what we see, could represent either a super event in September in which we would see both the new iPhone 13 and the new Apple Watch Series 7 alongside the new MacBook Pro or a strategy similar to last year in various events.
A true revolution on the horizon
The revolution that the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros will represent in the Mac landscape is causing quite a stir indeed. These machines will be the first to use a second iteration of the M1 chip. Whether we call it M1X, M2 or M1 Pro, we hope that these new computers will abandon the motherboard design inspired by the iPad to go for a much more capable design. Thanks to these changes, Apple could offer a better thermal design and eliminate some restrictions, for example in the amount of RAM available or in the number of external monitors that we can connect.
Along with these internal improvements, we also hope that these Macs will be the first computers of the apple brand to use mini-LED screens, screens that we have already seen in the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro M1 with impressive results. Finally the Mac design itself will be updated with new ports, including a MagSafe.
Regarding its arrival, the news collected by AppleInsider should not go unnoticed, because in the German Apple Store the current 16-inch MacBook Pro mistakenly show “Now with Apple’s new M1 chip.” An error that with all the expectation surrounding these new computers goes beyond a simple mistake .
