Apple presented this Tuesday the new iPhone 13 at an online event where the new Apple Watch Series 7, AirPods 3 and iPad were also unveiled.
As with the iPhone 12, Apple’s new generation of smartphones is again made up of four devices, namely the iPhone 13 and 13 mini, as well as the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max.
The four new variants, in addition to the coincident alignment with their predecessors, also inherit many features seen in 2020. In fact, it becomes clear that the iPhone 13 is an improvement on Apple’s work with the iPhone 12, and here it solidifies the its strengths and sharpening the edges for another year in a competitive market.
Thus, among the highlights of the iPhone 13, we will go through both the design and technical innovations in terms of processors and cameras, without neglecting to analyze the prices of the new smartphones from Apple.
iPhone 13 design is not far from the iPhone 12
For those hoping for a new design for Apple’s new generation of smartphones, there’s bad news. The iPhone 13 and its variants bring a design very similar to the iPhone 12, keeping a modern retro look and inspired by the lines of the iPhone 4.
This is not a negative point at all. This design ends up standing out from other proposals on the market and continues to be highly appreciated by fans of the apple company, especially for the robustness it conveys. Resistance was thought of in its development, with the new iPhone 13 receiving Ceramic Shield protection on their screens and IP68 certification.
In addition to the design, the construction must also be praised. After all, both iPhone 13 and 13 mini arrive with a combination of glass and aluminum in their structure, while the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max, representing the company’s best image, uses stainless steel in its structure.
More power with the Apple A15 Bionic and smoother screens
The notch reduced by 20% will be interesting for users, but it’s not the only important part of the new screens. After all, after years of waiting, Apple fans will finally have access to a higher refresh rate on their smartphones, as both iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max come with LTPO OLED screens, with 6.1 and 6.7 inches (respectively) and ProMotion technology , capable of reaching 120Hz refresh rate and maximum brightness of 1200 nits.
With a higher refresh rate, the Pro versions will take full advantage of all the power of the new Apple A15 Bionic (especially in gaming sessions), which according to Apple now takes a 50% better performance advantage on the GPU over the competition and from 30% on the GPU. This processor continues to use TSMC’s 5 nm process and a configuration of two Firestorm cores (high-performance) and four Icestorm cores (high-efficiency).
Both iPhone 13 and 13 mini keep the same 6.1 and 5.4 inch screen (respectively) that we found in their predecessors, with Super Retina XDR technology and 60Hz refresh rate.
The four versions of the smartphone receive increases in internal memory compared to their predecessors. Both iPhone 13 and 13 mini now come with a 128GB base version and another 256GB option, while the Pro and Pro Max versions start at 256GB and even have 512GB or 1TB options.
It is also important to approach the cameras. The sensors remain the same, with 12MP sensors for the main camera of the iPhone13 and 13 mini, which is joined by a 12MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and optical image stabilization. Although these sensors remain the same, Apple was keen to bring some new features, with all terminals having support for Cinematic Mode , a recording mode with dynamic autofocus.
Exclusive to the Pro versions are the ProRes mode and the macro-photographic capability of the wide-angle camera, which takes advantage of this sensor to offer a capability that otherwise required a dedicated camera.
At the front, we continue to find the same 12 MP camera dedicated to selfies, accompanied by the 3D sensors responsible for the Face ID facial recognition system.
Price and availability
All four new iPhone 13s will be available from November 24th, with their prices already announced. The iPhone 13 mini starts at $699, while the vanilla version starts at $799. These terminals can be configured in White, Black, Product RED, Pink and Blue.
Already both iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro Max raise their prices to 999 and 1,099 dollars, respectively, and can be configured in the colors Gold, Black, Silver and Blue.
