The year 2021 continues to bring variety to the mobile market , with more and more proposals for each segment. With the foldings gaining in popularity, the Huawei Mate V could be the next interesting proposition to be available to the public, as well as being another rival for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3.
After introducing the Mate X2 to the world, which turns into a small tablet when opened, the Chinese technology company will now bet on another format for its new folding, it is almost certain that this will adopt the “shell” format.
What to expect from Huawei Mate V?
Today’s information comes from a Chinese source via the Weibo social network. According to the shared data, the Huawei Mate V will be powered by the Kirin 9000 processor, the same one that powers smartphones like the Huawei Mate X2, Mate 40 and P50. This is the latest processor from HiSilicon, a subsidiary of Huawei responsible for the development of its processors for mobile devices and is not expected to have a successor in 2021, so it appears as the best candidate to equip the new folding.
It is, however, unknown whether the Huawei Mate V will have access to 5G connectivity. The latest smartphones launched by the brand (namely, the Huawei P50 line), despite being equipped with this processor and a Qualcomm option, did not have access to the 5G network, due to all the conflicts between Huawei and international entities. Thus, it will be more likely that the new Huawei will continue to arrive with only 4G network (which remains the preeminent network in the vast majority of markets).
In addition to the details about the processor and the format that the Huawei Mate V will adopt, the sources have not disclosed any other details that will allow us to assess the capabilities of the new smartphone.
Interestingly, Huawei has scheduled an event for the next October 21st, and some sources believe that this could be the moment when we get a first look at the new folding. However, given the lack of information less than a month from this event, it is likely that Huawei will bring more than a simple teaser of what could be the Huawei Mate V.
