Jaguar Land Rover has announced that it will add a 100% electric vehicle to its Range Rover car lineup in 2024. The announcement was made during the unveiling of the Range Rover 2022, the fifth generation of its luxury SUV that will feature new design and implementation of new technologies and features.

The brand didn’t reveal any great details about this new Range Rover in electric variant, but the news does not represent a big surprise for fans of the Range Rover line. In 2017, JLR had already guaranteed that the various brands of the group would make the leap to 100% electric or hybrid models starting in 2020.

Range Rover 2022 will be entitled to multiple variants

The Range Rover that will be available next year will come with several variants that will use different chassis and engine options with 6 and 8 cylinders.

The base model will be the P400 SE, a hybrid with a 3.0L turbo engine that delivers 395 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. Pricing starts at $104,000. The most advanced model, the P530 First Edition, will feature a body overhaul with a 4.4L twin turbo engine capable of producing 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque for around $163,500.

Range Rover vehicles for 2022 will be based on the EVA 2.0 architecture, which will allow the company to communicate wirelessly with more than 70 electronic modules. This means that the brand will be able to add features such as a new application or improve existing features in the vehicles’ infotainment system through software updates.

The 2022 Range Rover will also feature Amazon Alexa integration for easy access to calendars and some car and smart home functions.
